Forget me not!

So short but true story- Josh and I were out for a walk the other day, and I was saying how it was weird that the Alaskan state flower is the forget-me-not, and yet I'd never seen one in my entire time in Juneau.  He asked what they looked like, and I said, "well, kinda like that one- hey!"  Yep, that sneaky little flower chose that very moment to show up.  Or maybe I just hadn't been looking hard enough?  Anyways, it's very petite and pretty, plus elusive!

hiya Sushi!

I have tried...sushi!  I avoided this uncooked delicacy for many a year, but figured new place, new crew, new experiences.  And..it was great!  I wasn't super brave enough to try umagi or anything, but I looooved the wasabi!, and then had tuna and salmon rolls with caviar to go with.  Caviar reminded me of little sugar sprinkles, and tasted like nothing.  Altogether a good first try, with my new crew for the St. Philip (we were formerly on the St. Herman, but we're flexible :)

semi-lucid eurythmic sentiments

Welcome to my very first blog ever!

Before today, I had shied away from the whole blogging thing, thinking that my life was a bit too mundane to write about, let alone encourage other people to read!  But now that I'm in Alaska for the summer, and have so many fabulous people that I want to a) keep in touch with, and b) share all of the beautiful and random experiences that Juneau has to offer, I thought this might be a better way than mass e-mails.  You only read if you feel like it, and your inbox isn't filled with huge e-mails, yay!  So stayed tuned for the very first Alaska update: tonight is my first Allen Marine boat trip this summer, an Evening Whale Quest!  oooooh! ;)
